Effective Collaborations and Partnerships: Finding Common Ground for the Common GoodNonprofit agencies are all about connecting with people. Yet sometimes we don’t model this connective spirit when it comes to collaboration with other agencies within our own sector. Public and funder expectations along with recent resource challenges will lead nonprofits to increasingly examine collaborations and partnerships as an option to maximize resources. These collaborations and partnerships require a nonprofit agency to think outside the box. There may be ways to combine assets to better meet one common mission or goal. Yet major challenges in collaborating agencies can include autonomy and territorial issues, conflicting organizational cultures, and problem with trust building. However difficult a cooperative effort may be, it is a way to become more highly attuned to meeting the needs of your major stakeholders, stay relevant, and better meet the needs of those you serve. This program will discuss these benefits along with the issues/concerns of collaboration while addressing the following: What does it take to begin and maintain a successful working relationship with another agency? How much work and effort really goes into the collaboration process? Is there ever a right time to talk merger? Nonprofit Marketing with New MediaHaving a website is no longer enough to meet the technology needs and connectivity desires of a growing generation comprised of the most diverse and tech savvy population in our nation’s history. The recent campaign efforts of President Obama have proven the force with which social networks and frequent online communication can make a huge societal impact. New media tools offer an inexpensive and effective way to engage your audience, both current and prospective. They provide ways to easily harness public engagement in your agency’s mission and create numbers of spokespersons for your cause, all the while being environmentally friendly.
